Welcome to the tour of our garden, designed by Alden and constructed by Phil Wood Garden Design. Our house was newly constructed in the Spring of '98. The following picture was taken shortly after moving in, showing pretty much a clean slate left from the construction activities. The odd shape of this lot is due to us owning two houses side-by-side, renting one and gardening both lots as one space. I am standing in the corner of the lot with the rental house behind me and our house to the right outside the picture frame. The new garage in this picture goes with our house and I removed a decrepit garage and parking pad belonging to the rental house in order to reclaim the space for gardening. This picture was taken in late March.
Now spring forward 6 months to late September and the official completion of the project. This picture is taken from the same spot, but I climbed up on the new fence to provide a better view. The main garden includes a patio and paths of Chilton limestone, a pond suitable for keeping Koi installed by Paradise Pools, a small lawn, a bog garden and currently about 100 spieces of plants (currently searching for 150 more). The intention has been to provide a wide variety of planting conditions to accomodate my passion for collecting. The rental house has been provided a screened patio that will gradually become more private as vines consume the trellis. This fencing was expertly installed by GardenView Landscape and the sprinkler system by French Irrigation. I also appreciated sage advice from Jay Waller of Artist Point Design.
