The
Garden Report Summer '02
|
Hot, dry
summer after cold spring. Lots of plants showed drought stress;
particularly in the unirrigated portion of the garden.
 |
This is what the garden looked like in September. The aralia elata
lost its leaves beginning in August, but that didn't stop it from
smothering the miscanthus senisis beside it. |
 |
This
bed has been very difficult to photograph, but it has looked great all
summer. The blue is salvia garanitica and the red vine growing
through it is tropeolum speciosum. |
 |
Red spikes of lobelia tupa. |
 |
A professional photographer dropped by and took some
beautiful photos of the garden this summer. This is the pond in the
back yard. |

A second view of the back yard from the pro. |
 |
The trellises installed last fall are beginning to lift the green
skyward. |
