The Garden Report Summer '02

Hot, dry summer after cold spring.  Lots of plants showed drought stress; particularly in the unirrigated portion of the garden.

This is what the garden looked like in September.  The aralia elata lost its leaves beginning in August, but that didn't stop it from smothering the miscanthus senisis beside it.
This bed has been very difficult to photograph, but it has looked great all summer.  The blue is salvia garanitica and the red vine growing through it is tropeolum speciosum.
Red spikes of lobelia tupa.
A professional photographer dropped by and took some beautiful photos of the garden this summer.  This is the pond in the back yard.
A second view of the back yard from the pro.
The trellises installed last fall are beginning to lift the green skyward.
This is the new grape arbor with its tenant.
